What happens when the alarm goes off?

SHIELD® instantly receives a signal indicating which door, window, or motion detector triggered the alarm. To verify that the alarm was not set off by mistake, a trained dispatcher will call your home to ask for your password. If the phone is not answered in five rings or the correct password is not given, the police are immediately notified.

Due to high 911 call traffic, some towns have implemented a "nuisance call" fine. Usually, the third violation within a year results in a charge of around $25. Because SHIELD® verifies alarms by calling and confirming your password, the police are only notified in the case of legitimate emergencies.
